Sysco Foods Edmonton Distribution Centre

HIP Architects, with design build contractor Stuart Olsen, were successful in 2007 in winning the large food services distribution facility for Sysco Systems west of Edmonton. This facility was based on a prototype that Sysco had used throughout North America with a compartmental organization of administration areas, frozen food and distribution, and dry food and distribution. The technology of the building was challenging due to the complex environmental conditions of these three components. Although the building is expansive and utilitarian on its industrial sides, the opportunity was used to present an excellent corporate front to the entrance forecourt.
