Shell Canada Albian Jackpine Village

This large hospitality facility was constructed to meet the demand of the Shell Albian camp north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Clark Builders asked HIP to lead their design team for the design/build project, which the team won with their modular housing partner Atco Structures. The facility was divided into various components, with Clark being responsible for delivering the central support core.
This consisted of a gymnasium, fitness facility, a kitchen to handle 1000 per sitting, dining room, lounges, a theatre, and media areas. The building was design as a 2 storey structure to allow plus 15 bridges to the various housing pods surrounding the core.
One of the challenges of the building was to make it as modular as possible to allow for as much off site prefabrication as possible.
This building has greatly improved the lifestyle offered to workers in the camp and has been endorsed by both Shell and their contractors.
