With the assistance of Adamson Associates, HIP Architects developed an overall master plan that split the project into three integrated phases. A two-storey linear retail galleria links the retail base of Manulife place south to the LRT station under Jasper Avenue. On the west edge of the base rises an office tower with very large footplate to handle government and institutional tenants. The elegant curtain wall was state of the art in both performance and design and the tower was capped off with an sloped pyramid form to house mechanical. The two-storey base and interior galleria have identical rich architectural treatment and form befitting a building of this quality and position in the commercial market.
This major mixed use project for Olympia York is one of Edmonton’s most distinctive office towers and won an architecture award.
